Jaxon Kohler’s growth is fueling Michigan State’s early surge

The senior forward’s production, leadership, and work ethic have elevated him into the Big Ten conversation.

During Michigan State’s 12–1 start to the 2025–26 season, senior forward Jaxon Kohler has made his presence felt in every game.

A self-proclaimed “psycho,” Kohler has emerged as a steady and reliable scorer for the Spartans throughout the nonconference slate, pairing physicality with consistency.

Through 13 games, Kohler has recorded eight double-doubles and is averaging nearly 14 points per game. The jump is striking when viewed against his production over the course of his career:

2022–23 (Freshman): 3.0 PPG

2023–24 (Sophomore): 2.0 PPG

2024–25 (Junior): 7.8 PPG

2025–26 (Senior): 13.9 PPG

To further contextualize that growth, Kohler’s production stacks up favorably with some of the Big Ten’s most productive frontcourt players.
