What a big night at home doesn’t buy you on the road in the Big Ten

After Michigan State’s 114-point outburst against Cornell, Jeremy Fears Jr. is already focused on what the Big Ten will demand next.

Michigan State didn’t just beat Cornell on Monday night — it rewrote a small piece of its own history on the offensive side of the scoreboard.

The Spartans poured in 114 points, the program’s highest total at the Breslin Center since 2008, in a 114–97 win over Cornell. Jeremy Fears Jr. led the way with a career-high 21 points, directing an offense that never stopped attacking. Michigan State improved to 12–1 overall and 2–0 in Big Ten play.

It was loud. It was efficient. It was the kind of night that, in another context, might invite celebration. Inside the locker room, it didn’t.

“We have a goal. We have a new challenge,” Fears said after practice Wednesday. “Try to win the Big Ten again and defend the title. It’s a whole new group, and we haven’t done anything yet this year.”
