Details Were the Difference: Alessio Milivojevic takes accountability in MSU's loss to Northwestern
MSU loses another game decided by a few plays. MSU quarterback Alessio Milivojevic knows the small details may have cost the Spartans the game in the end.
Michigan State, for the second week in a row, may have been one or two plays away from adding another win to its 2026 record. Instead, the Spartans had to settle for two excruciating losses in games where a little more attention to detail could have won MSU the game. This time around, MSU lost 24-21 to Northwestern.
The Spartans led the Wildcats by eight points in the fourth quarter, but ultimately lost the game following a special teams blunder and defensive breakdowns, among other issues, late in the game.
Michigan State has now lost five consecutive games. The Spartans have an overall record of 2-5, and are yet to win a Big Ten game this season.
MSU quarterback Alessio Milivojevic knows that the small details matter, and that a few plays decided the outcome of Saturday's game.
Milivojevic did not shy away from holding himself accountable in the loss to NU.
Milivojevic believes the team is sticking together, working hard and close to breaking through.
“We put in the work, and I think you can see it,” Milivojevic said following the game. “We’re close. We’re a few plays away on each of these last two games. So I think it’s all it’s going to take is continuing to go back to practice, and keeping everyone's head up, keeping everyone together as one, and go battle the next game. That’s all you can do.”
