Faith, Service, and Leadership: How Jordan Hall embodies what it means to be a Spartan

Jordan Hall has played for three head coaches, endured repeated roster turnover, and watched countless teammates leave Michigan State. He never seriously considered joining them.

In an era of college football defined by constant movement (especially in East Lansing), Michigan State linebacker Jordan Hall is something that has become increasingly rare: a steady presence.

Almost everything around Jordan Hall has changed since he arrived at Michigan State.

The head coach has changed – twice. Position coaches have come and gone. Rosters have been rebuilt, teammates have entered the transfer portal, and the program has repeatedly been forced to begin again.

Hall stayed.

Entering his fourth season in East Lansing, Hall has emerged not only as one of the leaders of the Spartans' defense but also as a player who embodies many of the values the program prides itself on.

Yet Hall does not describe his decision to remain at Michigan State as extraordinary. To him, it was simply a matter of honoring the commitment he made when he signed with the Spartans.

“When I chose to sign (with) Michigan State, it wasn't under the impression that, you know, if this thing doesn't work out, I'm gonna go somewhere else,” Hall said. “When I decided I wanted to come here, it was a commitment that I made to give four years to a university, and that's been kind of my mantra.”

Those words carry extra weight considering the circumstances. Michigan State has experienced significant change over the last several years, including yet another coaching transition this offseason. Through it all, Hall has remained one of the few constants in the program.
