Film Room: Eastern Michigan vs. Michigan State
Breaking down the game tape from the Spartans' 35-7 victory over the Eagles.
I was, on balance, encouraged with the general shape of Michigan State's 35-7 win over Eastern Michigan. Though MSU started slow, I thought the Spartans finished well with the offensive line wearing down EMU and opening legitimate running lanes.
I felt Michigan State quarterback Alessio Milivojevic made a number of highly accurate throws, displaying a sound internal timer. The emergence of an "arc" package is something that will definitely be built on in coming weeks, as will the dizzying array of short-yardage solutions offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan has deployed.
The rubber really meets the road next week with Notre Dame on deck, and I fear that some of MSU's immutable talent disadvantages will be exposed. However, my opinion that the team is well-coached and well put together is intact.
Let's get into the film breakdown of Saturday's game below.
