Michigan State Football: Stock Report ahead of Week Three

Highlighting which Michigan State players are rising and falling after last week's victory over Boston College.

t took double overtime, Michigan State won in dramatic fashion over Boston College on Saturday night in what felt like an early season must-win game to many fans.

There were plenty of takeaways in all three phases in MSU's 42-40 victory that taught us quite a bit about the team, so let's dive into which Spartan players' stock rose and which fell after Week Two.

QB Aidan Chiles - Stock up

Many have still been in wait and see mode with the Spartans junior quarterback, as there were some growing pains for Chiles last year as a first time starter. Opposed to Week One versus Western Michigan, Chiles was needed to keep the Spartans afloat and he more than delivered against the Eagles.

Chiles completed 19 out of 29 passes (66%) for 231 passing yards with four passing touchdowns and zero interceptions. He added 39 rushing yards and an additional score on the ground, and scored the game-winning two-point conversion when he found wide receiver Omari Kelly after rushing in the game-tying score in the second overtime period.

His five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing) was the most of his career and he showed just about everything he had in the toolbox. Now the test will be to see if the stellar performance is sustainable as Big Ten play begins soon. And with how the MSU defense performed, if it doesn't get better, big performances from Chiles may be needed for the Spartans to win.
