There is more to earning a place in the Michigan State basketball program than simply having the talent to compete. It takes a willingness to work, a hunger to get better, and an understanding of what it means to represent the green and white.
Freshman Josiah Jervis has already begun to show those qualities, and his performance in Michigan State’s win over Toledo offered a glimpse into why head coach Tom Izzo already trusts him with a starting spot. Jervis ended the night with a team-high 16 points and played 27 minutes, the same amount of time as veteran point guard Jeremy Fears.
Perhaps one of the strongest indicators of Jervis’ fit within the program is the respect he has earned from teammates Jordan Scott and Fears, as well as Izzo.
