Coming off a two-game slide, Michigan State’s matchup with the Fighting Illini shaped up as one of its most important tests of the season. With outside scrutiny swirling and the loss of key guard Divine Ugochukwu to injury, uncertainty lingered as the ball tipped inside the Breslin Center.
