Michigan State secondary coach Blue Adams pleased with the competition in his room

Secondary coach Blue Adams joined the Michigan State coaching staff in December of 2023, following head coach Jonathan Smith from Oregon State to East Lansing.

Following Michigan State’s disappointing 5-7 finish during the 2024 season, the first season in Smith's tenure at MSU, Adams shared that the best thing about coming away with a victory against Western Michigan to kick off the 2025 season was getting to see his players' hard work out on the field.

“It’s nice to see those guys competing,” Adams stated simply, earlier this week.

Digging into specifics, Adams was asked to comment on the performances of cornerbacks Malcolm Bell and Joshua Eaton. Both players transferred to Michigan State this past offseason (Bell from UConn and Eaton from Texas State, after starting his career at Oklahoma), enrolling in January, going through spring ball with the Spartans and eventually earning starting roles during fall camp.

“I think both of those guys are good players,” Adams said about Bell and Eaton. “The thing that you see is those guys have length and they can run, good man (coverage) corners, they tackle, they’re physical, they live in the meeting room. You like guys that you bring into the program and (they) quickly jump on board and are able to contribute right now. SoI would say they're good takes for us.”

At the cornerback position, Michigan State also had redshirt sophomore Chance Rucker (19) and true freshman Aydan West (16) play significant snaps.
