Film Room: Michigan State's 2026 season-opening win over Toledo
Breaking down the tape from the Spartans' Week 1 victory over the Rockets.
It is great to be back, doing another film room! It was the first game of the 2026 season for all of us, including myself and Michigan State's offensive line. There are some hiccups on both ends — I apologize for the segmented nature of the videos. We all make our biggest jump from Week 1 to Week 2!
On the positive side, I felt quarterback Alessio Milivojevic was decisive, confident and highly effective. I felt there was legitimate burst from the running backs, and fine plays by the wide receivers. However, I am uneasy about the ability of both lines to stand up to stiffer competition down the road. With that said, the MSU defensive line did some good things against Toledo. I also feel the undersized nature of the receiver room may harm the team at some point.
I am higher on this team than some, and nothing I saw in the film made me think that this team cannot make a bowl, especially considering some of the performances MSU's future opponents put on this weekend.
