As Michigan State head football coach Pat Fitzgerald took the stage at Big Ten Media Days on Wednesday, his message was clear: the Spartans are embracing high expectations as they begin a new era under his leadership.
Fitzgerald, who was introduced as MSU's head coach earlier this year, spoke confidently about the direction of the program and the work that has taken place throughout the offseason as the Spartans prepare to open fall camp in just one week (with players reporting on Wednesday, August 5 and the first practice taking place on Thursday, August 6, sources tell Spartans Illustrated's Ryan O'Bleness).
“Michigan State is a special place,” Fitzgerald said during his televised appearance on the Big Ten Network. “You can achieve championships and get a great degree from a great school, and we're looking forward to taking this program back to where it belongs at the highest level.”
