Michigan State has a history with the No. 1 jersey, and Pat Fitzgerald has a tradition of his own he brought to East Lansing.

EDGE Kenny Soares Jr. was voted by his teammates as “The Spartan” and earned the right to wear the No. 1 jersey (or a helmet decal).
